Powerlifting is divided into two categories:
Powerlifting Equipped (also called “gear”) involves elastic tools such as knee straps, bodices and bench tops, which resist movement load-induced, allowing a greater weight lifting. They also help preserve joint health.
The second category is Powerlifting Classic (RAW) and only requires belts, knee pads and cuffs to support the joints during the activity. In this case the lifting weight is entirely dependent on the athlete’s muscle strength.
East Side Gym focuses more on Powerlifting Classics because anyone can train this way.
